Spring time is a very busy time for all our fundraisers. Supporter Andy Taylor has taken on the challenge of running six marathons in 2026 to raise £6,000. Andy said: “It’s been 10 years since Marg, my wonderful mother-in-law, sadly died from cancer. Marg was treated by Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, and this challenge is my way of continuing to support the incredible difference they make to so many families while honouring Marg’s memory – I know she would be incredibly proud of this challenge”. Andy kicked off the year with the Doughnut Dash and Running Tribe Race in January, and The Wacky Run Marathon in February. Still to come are the Brighton Marathon, the Windsor 50 Mile Ultra Challenge and the Great Limerick Run in Marg’s hometown.
We held our first Quiz Night of the year on 28 February. As has become the norm, this event was sold out and raised the most of all quiz nights to date, with a grand total of £2,679. Hilary and Alan Coulson did a grand job as Quiz Masters and everyone had a fun filled evening. The next quiz will be held on 27 June.
Our Impact Event on 10 March gave our supporters the opportunity to hear from our Chair of Trustees and other members of the team about how their support has helped our patients, and the plans for the year ahead. Local solicitor Bottrills very kindly donated all the refreshments for this event.
The annual Bridge Drive at Moor Park Golf Club is another sell out (yet to take place as we go to press). Thanks to Pam Holland for her help to arrange this event every year.
April is Marathon time – with Jenny Morris taking part in the London Marathon, and both Andy Taylor and Martin Eden taking part in the Brighton Marathon. All have been achieving fantastic results with their fundraising and we will have more to report in the next issue of Inside View.
On Bank Holiday Monday 4 May come and join us for Stepping Up For Cancer. This beautiful 10km walk is always a fantastic event, with shortcuts available if you prefer a shorter distance. Beautiful scenery and a chance to get out in the countryside, with pub stops en route if the urge takes you, and free access to the Tulip Gardens at Chenies Manor after 2pm on the day! Sponsorship is optional but hugely beneficial to the success of this event. Last year our lovely walkers raised a grand total of more than £11,500.
Calling all Golfers! This year’s Golf Day on Monday 8 June will return to Moor Park Golf Club due to popular demand. A fantastic day of golf starts with coffee and bacon rolls, a round of golf on the prestigious High Course, 3 course meal, then auction and prizes. Come and join us or support the day and Sponsor A Hole. Contact us for more details or book your place using the donation form.
