‘My first thought was to leave a gift in my Will’

Supporter Carole shares what inspired her to leave a gift in her Will to Paul Strickland Scanner Centre

Supporter Carole is one of the very special people who have made the decision to pledge a gift in their Will to Paul Strickland Scanner Centre. Here is shares what inspired her to do so.

“My husband Ian had many CT and MRI scans as well as a few PET-CT scans and my reason to fundraise began when I learnt that the centre gets no government funding. I have always made crafts and so I have made and sold things whenever possible to donateto the centre.

“Their machines are so crucial for cancer patients and Ian loved the care he received at Paul Strickland Scanner Centre. The staff never seemed rushed and always explained everything.

“The scans played a huge role in the care he received over 15 years. One of the earlier scans showed cancer had spread to a very small area near his liver and if this had not been picked up, he would not have had the treatment that gave him another chance. In 2009 Ian was selected to take part in a research programme for patients whose Non-Hodgkin lymphoma had returned. I believe that the scans enabled him to be monitored so well and be part of this research group. When Ian died in 2021, I made a new will and my first thought was to leave a gift in my will to Paul Strickland Scanner Centre to thank them for the wonderful work they do.”
