Supporter Andy Taylor, a teacher from Northwood College school is now over halfway through an extraordinary challenge to run six marathons in 2026, aiming to raise £10,000 for Paul Strickland Scanner Centre at Mount Vernon Hospital. Andy is taking on the challenge in memory of his beloved mother-in-law, Margaret (Marg) Gross. Marg benefitted from the outstanding care provided by the centre. His fundraising honours her memory while supporting local cancer patients.
On Sunday 12 April, Andy, completed his fourth marathon of the challenge by taking on the Brighton Marathon, covering the full 26.2 mile route from city to coast, passing many of the iconic sights of Brighton and Hove. Next on his marathon calendar is the Great Limerick Run on Sunday 3 May.
Andy says: “It’s been 10 years since Marg, my wonderful mother-in-law, sadly died from cancer. Marg received care from Paul Strickland Scanner Centre, whose vital work focuses on early diagnosis and saving lives. This challenge is my way of continuing to support the incredible difference they make to so many families while honouring Marg’s memory – I know she would be incredibly proud.”
Andy’s full marathon schedule for 2026: 11 January: Doughnut Dash, Sunbury-on-Thames, 24 January: Running Tribe Race, Chalfont St Peter, 21 February: Magna Carta Marathon, Egham, 12 April: Brighton Marathon, 3 May: Great Limerick Run (Marg’s hometown). Plus, two more dates to be confirmed.
