Andy Taylor completed 6 marathons in 5 months, with the last one being the Great Limerick Run in memory of his wonderful mother-in-law, Marg. Initially Andy’s fundraising target was £6,000 for six marathons, but he smashed through that target and aims to achieve a total of over £10,000 by also holding an event, Together we run, Together we raise, at Northwood College where he is a teacher.

Jenny Morris had not considered herself a runner when her partner Tino accepted a place in the London Marathon on our behalf. Unfortunately, Tino was unable to take part due to injury, so Jenny stepped up. After several months of training, and a huge fundraising drive including a fantastic music event in Watford, Jenny completed her first marathon on 26 April, raising over £7,000.

Martin Eden took part in the Brighton Marathon for the third time, raising £520. Martin chose to do this for the third time in our support, as we are very close to his family’s heart. If you feel inspired by all these wonderful achievements, and want to carry out your own challenge, please get in touch. There are all sorts of challenges on offer from 10km walks to desert marathons, and we will help you find the right one for you.

On Bank Holiday Monday 4 May our annual Stepping Up For Cancer walk went ahead, with over 100 walkers taking part. The beautiful walk was enjoyed by our supporters and some of their furry friends too! Thanks to Every mile matters the owners of Chenies Manor for use of their field for registration and also for giving our walkers free access to their beautiful gardens on the day. Over £3,000 has been raised to date, with some sponsorship still to come.

A great day was had by all at this year’s Charity Golf Day which was once again held at Moor Park Golf Club. Nineteen teams took part in a range of weather conditions, but by the end of the day the sun was shining and everyone had fun. Congratulations to winning team Top-Up, Runners up Bella’s Boys and 3rd team Barnett Waddingham and Friends. Huge thanks to auctioneer Andrew Binstock for running a fantastic auction, which helped to raise a total from the day of £16,500. We are so grateful to all the players, sponsors, donors and of course to Pam Holland and other volunteers.
