Paul Strickland Scanner Centre has launched a drive to recruit additional radiologists, due to a high number of referrals for scans. As a result, we are experiencing a high volume of scans, which may have an impact on the time it takes to get your results. Please bear with us while we address this and catch up.

The centre has its own in-house team of cancer imaging experts, who work closely with referrers at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and other hospitals.

The recruitment drive for additional radiologists comes as the number of scans is set to reach 21,000 for this financial year—the highest-ever number. The increased scan numbers follow a sustained investment drive at the centre over the past years, culminating in the installation of a new PET-CT scanner in 2024 and two new MRI scanners shortly before that.

All three new scanners are equipped with very advanced new artificial intelligence software, which allows patients to be scanned much more rapidly, meaning a greater number of patients can be scanned during a given day than previously.
